Sous Vide Ribeye Steak Sandwich

sous vide ribeye

If you own a sous vide, this is by far the easiest way to cook a steak. The longer you leave it in the water bath the more tender it gets. Topped with some sautéed cheesy onions. You might want to share half of this huge sandwich.

Length of time from start to finish: 3 hours
Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients:
  • 1 12oz ribeye steak
  • 1/2 sweet onion
  • 1/2 stick of unsalted butter
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 tbsp mayo
  • 2.5 tbsp cooking oil
Instructions:

-Start off by preheating your sous vide to 130 degrees, this is if you want med-rare steak. You can add more temp if you want it more well done.

-Then season your steak generously and place it in a bag, either a sous vide one or a zip lock bag. Then into the water bath it goes for 2.5 hours. Before the steak is done and you have 10 min remaining, toast your buns by adding a good amount of either butter or mayo. Toast them to your liking.

-In the same skillet add 1/2 tbsp cooking oil with your onions. Add salt to season, remove once tender. Remove the steak once it’s done, remove the steak from the bag and pat it dry, this will allow the steak to create a nice crust. In the same pan you want it on high heat, add about 2 tbsp cooking oil and sear your steak for 1 min, then flip and cut the heat to med, add butter, crushed garlic, baste for 1 min, this will give your steak a ton of flavor.

-Remove your steak and let it rest. While the steak is resting add your onions back into the pan and top them with shredded cheese, let that melt. It’s time to assemble, add mayo to the buns, the whole steak, or you can always slice it, topped with your cheesy onions. This was so delicious and filling.

You can choose not to add onions or cheese and add veggies if you like! Tomatoes maybe lettuce, it’s all up to you. Hope you enjoyed this recipe as much as I did.
